Our Products

Brick End Farms is a regional leader in producing high quality, biologically active compost. We have perfected the art of composting food waste along with locally available carbon sources to produce a high-quality compost. In addition, we now have the technology to make a liquid extract of that material known as compost tea. Through a rigorous testing process, we are able to produce and guarantee the delivery of a high-quality, biologically-active, liquid extract. Compost tea has been shown to improve the health of soils and therefore plant material in many kinds of landscapes, including residential properties.

Available in 3/8 or 1/2 inch screened

Using our proprietary blend of feedstocks, we are able to produce high-quality compost that is rich in both active and dormant biological life. One of the characteristics of good compost is retained nitrogen. The major portion of the nitrogen in our product is in the organic form which is broken down little by little over the course of 10 to 12 months. There is also a modest percentage of nitrogen that is in a plant-available form and is ready for immediate uptake by the plant.

Our compost consistently averages between 40% and 45% organic matter. Our one-half-inch compost is perfect for soil incorporation, general top dressing of turf, or as a mulching material. Our three-eighths inch material is produced as a high-quality compost which removes more of the oversized particles

Our loam is a 60/40 blend of loam and compost

Our enhanced topsoil is native soil that is blended with our compost. The soil textural class is a sandy loam. It exhibits almost ideal percentages of sand, silt, and clay. It is 72% sand, 21% silt and 6.7% clay making it a very good garden soil that has nutrient retentive capabilities and exhibits the characteristics of good drainage. The pH is 6.2 making it a versatile material for either grass or ornamental beds. The micro and macronutrients are in balance. This topsoil is amended to 4%-7.2% organic matter after the incorporation of our compost. The compost provides some immediate nutrient which can sustain and encourage the growth of new plant material without excessive amounts of additional fertilizer.

Terra Mulch

Unlike traditional wood or bark mulches, our Terra Mulch has a finer texture and adds a high-end look to any landscape. Bark mulches by their nature tend to deplete soils of nitrogen and restrict gas exchange between soils and the atmosphere. Terra Mulch is composted horse bedding and manure that continually improves the soil over the long term. As it begins to break down, it enhances the soil with additional organic matter, robust microbial life, and long-term nutrients, specifically nitrogen in the organic form. There is also a soluble fraction of nitrogen that provides a boost to the plant in the short term.

Black Mulch

The Black Mulch is a triple ground product made from virgin 50% softwood bark sourced from NH, ME, Canada and virgin softwood chips/grindings from local vendors. This fine-textured mulch provides a striking contrast to brightly colored flowers and gardens. Our Black Mulch is aged as well as color enhanced to offer the best color retention.

Dark Mix

Our Dark Mix is a blend of Pine, Spruce and Fir Bark and softwood chips/grindings and is aged to a rich, natural dark brown. It is one of our most popular mulches. With the wonderful spruce scent, this mulch compliments any garden or landscape.

Our compost tea starts with earthworm castings. We feed our worms our own Brick Ends Farm compost and the worms produce castings. We take those castings and create what is commonly called compost tea or earthworm casting tea. We add various materials from sugar to kelp depending on the nature of the desired treatment. The result is our compost tea.

Organic compost tea can be used as a more environmentally friendly way to fertilize. Combining compost tea with a small amount of pre-mixed liquid fertilizer allows you to apply biology to the chemistry that is already in your soil.

Our compost tea also helps manage drought conditions.Compost has 60% more hygroscopic properties than soil, so it holds more water. One of the building blocks of tea is water, so when watered down tea is sprayed on a lawn you will see beneficial growth, which encourages deeper roots systems. Because of the increase in root depth, no matter the drought situation, your grass is going to stay greener because it is getting the water and the moisture it needs.

Carbon Sequestering

Using compost and compost tea also increases your landscapes ability to hold carbon. When the level of beneficial organic matter is increased, the carbon concentration of the soil—a strong indicator of healthy soil—also increases. In addition, by using compost and compost tea to enhance plant growth, the soil's ability to remove carbon from the atmosphere is improved
